The 6-foot and 185 pound Grier chose Indiana over a list of schools that included Kansas, Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Memphis, and South Florida. In total he had more than 20 offers.
Grier recorded 56 tackles and he returned four interceptions for touchdowns as a junior for Cedar Grove. The Saints went 13-2 and won the Georgia AAA State Championship in 2019. Grier’s strengths as a safety will make him particularly well suited to be an asset in coverage against the passing game.
A three-star recruit according Rivals, Grier is not currently ranked by the major services. He is the third defensive back in the 2021 class along with Aubrey Burks and Larry Smith.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Indiana’s 2021 class is ranked No. 67 in the country overall, and No. 13 in the Big Ten as of this writing.
