Sometimes a name to know is a name you already know.
Could Indiana have a pair of Mullen islands on the field for one season?
While there is still a long way to go in his high school career, class of 2022 cornerback Trevell Mullen has IU on his radar. The youngest brother of a football family that includes brother Trayvon Mullen of the Oakland Raiders, cousin Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, brother Tiawan Mullen of IU, Trevell is one of the top corners in his class.
Trevell Mullen is a four-star cornerback prospect out of Pompano Beach, Florida. He is the No. 168 player nationally according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the No. 20 cornerback overall.
Already with a list of suitors that includes Florida, Miami (Fla.), Penn State, Oregon, Auburn, and many others, bringing Trevell to Bloomington to join his brother will be a major challenge.
But Indiana has a good thing going early with the youngest Mullen, and no doubt his brother’s breakout freshman season played a role. Tiawan broke up 13 passes as a true freshman at Indiana this past season, which led the Big Ten, and he earned a spot on 247Sports True-Freshman All-American team. He was named honorable-mention All-Big Ten.
Trevell is 6-foot with good length and the trademark Mullen instincts and competitiveness. Many believe he will end up being the best of the three brothers.
Here are Trevell’s sophomore season highlights with Coconut Creek in 2019, and another profile video.
