Indiana picked up a commitment from class of 2022 defensive back Jamari Sharpe on Sunday.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from Miami Northwestern H.S. announced his commitment to IU on his Twitter page. He took an official visit to Indiana last weekend.
Sharpe is a 3-star prospect and the No. 71 cornerback nationally according to 247Sports.
A high level athlete, he placed sixth at Sunshine State’s 3A state track meet as a junior going 10.69 in the 100-meter dash and was a member of a 4×100 team that captured silver. Won a district title in the 200-meter dash a few weeks prior with a personal best 21.47 in the event.
Sharpe’s uncle Glenn Sharpe was a cornerback for the Miami Hurricanes in the early 2000s. He also played in the NFL.
He chose IU over offers from LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Georgia Tech, Rutgers and others.
Indiana’s class of 2022 is ranked No. 27 nationally as of this writing.
