Indiana announced the signing of JUCO transfer defensive back Jamison Kelly on Wednesday morning.
At 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Kelly has a frame that could work at strong safety or the hybrid safety/linebacker husky position. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Kelly had announced a top-five of Jacksonville State, Tennessee State, UTEP, Austin Peay and Louisiana Monroe. He verbally committed to Jacksonville State earlier this month before IU got heavily involved and had him come for a visit.
The Columbia, Miss. product played at Jones College in 2022 after spending his first two seasons at Louisiana Tech. There he played in 17 games over two seasons both on special teams and defense. He had 11 tackles while at Louisiana Tech.
In his 2022 season at Jones College Kelly had 51 tackles (33 solo) including three for a loss, two forced fumbles, an interception, three passes defensed, and two pass break-ups.
In high school Kelly played at Columbia H.S. (Mississippi) where he helped the Wildcats to a 13-1 record and south state championship appearance his senior year. He played in MS/AL All-Star Game, was a three-time all-state selection (first team as a senior and junior). Kelly was credited with 159 tackles, 11 interceptions, 10 breakups and four forced fumbles in his high school career.
Kelly was rated as a three-star safety by Rivals and 247Sports.com.
