Indiana has a need at right tackle following the 2024 season, and they’ve got one of the transfer portal’s most prized players at that spot on campus Friday.
Rivals is reporting Bowling Green offensive tackle Alex Wollschlaeger is visiting Bloomington today before heading to Kentucky tomorrow.
The 6-foot-7 and 305-pounder started all 12 games at right tackle for Bowling Green in 2024 and was named first team All-MAC.
Wollschlaeger earned a career-best PFF grade (76.6) in 2024. He allowed just 15 pressures on 429 pass plays in 2024. The passer he was blocking for was none other than former IU quarterback Connor Bazelak, who completed 67.1 percent of his passes.
In total he appeared in 835 snaps, including 773 at right tackle. Wollschlaeger allowed just two hits on the quarterback through 12 games. He has been a starter since 2022.
In high school, Wollschlaeger starred at Oswego (Ill.) East in the Chicago area.
Wollschlaeger has one year of eligibility remaining.
Indiana should return several players from the 2024 starting offensive line, including Carter Smith, Bray Lynch, Drew Evans, and Nick Kidwell. The latter two each suffered a season-ending injury. Center Mike Katic and right tackle Trey Wedig are both out of eligibility following the 2024 season.
