Indiana will have transferring Tennessee defensive back Christian Harrison on campus for a visit this weekend according to a report.
He is the son of 15-year NFL veteran, two-time Super Bowl champion and a two-time Pro Bowler Rodney Harrison.
Harrison played the hybrid safety role (Indiana’s rover) at Tennessee. He should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-1 and 191-pound Harrison has played in 24 career games with four starts. He has totaled 29 tackles, three TFLs, half a sack and one pass breakup in his career.
In 2024 Harrison played in 12 games and posted 20 tackles including 2.5 for a loss and a half sack. He added two quarterback hits and a pass breakup.
According to PFF, Harrison played a career-high 295 snaps in 2024 and received a 73.6 tackling grade and 62.0 coverage grade.
In 2023 he played in five games with no starts as a reserve defensive back and special teams standout. He played in five games but still earned a redshirt because the fifth appearance came in the postseason.
In 2022 he played in eight games as a reserve defensive back and special teams contributor, finishing with nine tackles and half a TFL on the year.
From Atlanta, Harrison was rated a consensus three-star recruit by all of the major recruiting services. He originally committed to Liberty before emerging his senior year.
Safety is a priority position in the transfer portal. Indiana has starter Amare Ferrell returning and Louis Moore is coming back to IU from Ole Miss. But the Hoosiers lack depth and other players like Harrison who could compete for a starting role.
Harrison is also visiting Texas A&M, and possibly Cincinnati and Ole Miss according to Bryce Koon of 247Sports.
