A monster season at James Madison has IU wideout Elijah Sarratt on the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list.
Sarratt, who transferred to Indiana in January to follow head coach Curt Cignetti and his staff, was named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference after catching a team-high 82 passes for 1,191 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore in 2023. Over the Dukes’ final six games, Sarratt had over 100 receiving yards in five contests.
The 6-foot-2 and 209-pound Sarratt transferred to JMU after spending one season at Saint Francis (2022) where he had 42 receptions for 700 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Virginia product has two years of eligibility remaining. He’s part of a highly experienced Indiana wide receiver room that also features Donaven McCulley, E.J. Williams Jr., Ke’Shawn Williams, Miles Cross, and Myles Price.
Sarratt, McCulley, Cross, Price and both Williams all have significant experience as starters. That group of six has combined for 582 receptions, 7,164 yards, and 40 TDs over their college careers.
The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the college football season’s outstanding FBS receiver, regardless of position. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, split end, inside receiver, slot back or running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver, not merely the outstanding wide receiver.
The award recipient is selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, and former receivers. Foundation trustees do not vote and have never voted.
Receivers are periodically added to the watch list as their season performances dictate. Actual, not potential, performance is the basis for inclusion on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The transparently detailed and explicit criteria for candidate eligibility, watch list inclusion, and voting appear at: BiletnikoffAward.com/criteria.
