After a 2-0 week that included a high major road win at Xavier, IU men’s basketball moved up a spot to No. 11 in the new AP top-25 released on Monday.
It marks the second time Indiana has moved up a spot after opening the season at No. 13.
A trio of teams IU will face in the coming weeks are also ranked in the top-15. The Hoosiers host No. 1 North Carolina next week, and they’ll play No. 14 Arizona and No. 3 Kansas in December.
Joining Indiana (4-0) from the Big Ten is previously ranked No. 16 Illinois. No. 12 Michigan State made its debut as did Maryland, Purdue and Iowa in the No. 23 through 25 spots, respectively. Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State are also receiving votes.
The No. 11 ranking is IU’s best since Dec. 2016.
Meanwhile, following a 3-0 week that included a win at Tennessee, the IU women moved up six spots to No. 6 in the updated AP top-25, matching their second-highest ranking ever.
That marks the 61st consecutive week the Hoosiers have appeared in the Associated Press poll, dating back to the 2019-20 season.
The IU women (5-0) return to action later this week with games against Auburn and Memphis in Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday. Those games will be streamed on Flo Hoops.
