Indiana women’s basketball signee Nevaeh Caffey has been named 2025 Miss Show-Me Basketball, per an announcement on Monday.
The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 16.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game as a senior at Incarnate Word Academy, per STL Today. She helped lead the Red Knights to a state title this year.
Caffey is ranked No. 67 in ESPN’s Class of 2025 top 100. Fellow incoming freshman Maya Makalusky checks in at No. 35.
Caffey is the first Hoosier to win Missouri’s Miss Basketball award. Notable previous winners include Napheesa Collier, Sophie Cunningham, and Niele Ivey. Caffey joins Maya Makalusky (Indiana, 2025) and Lenée Beaumont (Illinois, 2023) as Miss Basketball recepients on IU’s 2025-26 roster.
Portal visits
With six players in the transfer portal, Teri Moren has a lot of holes to fill on IU’s roster for next season.
The Hoosiers have been active in hosting portal recruits in recent days. Penn State center Gracie Merkle and Arkansas guard Phoenix Stotijn visited Bloomington over the weekend, and Alabama guard Chloe Spreen visited IU on Monday.
Spreen has the strongest connection to Indiana of those three players. The guard played high school basketball at Bedford North Lawrence, just 30 miles from Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. She won Indiana Miss Basketball in 2024 at BNL. The Hoosiers recruited her early, and offered her a scholarship before she finished eighth grade. Spreen saw action in 20 games for Alabama this past season, but played just 6.5 minutes per game. She totaled 23 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds on the year while shooting 2 for 11 from 3-point range.
Merkle averaged 15.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game for the Nittany Lions this past season as a redshirt sophomore, and scored 16 points against Indiana in December. She shot 67 percent from the field, the top mark in the Big Ten. Merkle would give the Hoosiers the frontcourt experience they lack after Lilly Meister entered the portal.
Stotijn started 12 games this past season and played in 21 for Arkansas as a redshirt freshman. The Amsterdam native recorded 7.2 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 31.7 percent from the field and 26 percent from 3-point range. She reportedly included Indiana among her final five schools.
