In a battle of heavyweights, Indiana is making it clear how much they want class of 2025 5-star forward Nate Ament.
The full IU coaching staff — head coach Mike Woodson and assistants Kenya Hunter, Yasir Rosemond and Brian Walsh — convened in Marietta, Ga. to watch the 6-foot-9 combo forward.
Ament was playing in an event called Power 24 put on by On the Radar Hoops. Joe Tipton of On3 reported the full IU staff’s presence at the event.
Woodson and the staff also watched Ament several times at the Adidas 3SSB Championships last week.
When we caught up with Ament last week, he told The Daily Hoosier what he likes about Woodson.
“Mike Woodson is an NBA guy, he’s sent a bunch of players to the league. It’s kind of hard to not like a coach like that, especially someone of my status,” Ament told TDH. “He’s a great coach, and you love to be coached by someone like that. I feel like he knows what he is doing and would have a plan for me.”
Indiana is battling schools like Louisville, Virginia, North Carolina, UConn, Duke, Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Kentucky for Ament, who hails from Virginia.
Ament told The Daily Hoosier he expects to take a visit to Indiana in the weeks to come.
Woodson and Rosemond made the trip over to Atlanta from North Augusta, S.C., where they watched coveted 5-star guard Jalen Haralson earlier in the day, according to multiple reports.
Haralson and Ament are two of Indiana’s main targets in the class of 2025.
This is the last weekend of the summer college coaches will be able to watch high school prospects, save for an NCAA College Basketball Academy July 23-25.
Ament’s highlights from the Adidas 3SSB Championships last week are below.
