For the second straight offseason, Teri Moren has an opening to fill on her staff.
Associate head coach Glenn Box has moved on to become head coach at Miami (Ohio), both programs announced Monday. It’s his first head coaching gig in Division I women’s college basketball.
Box joined Moren’s staff in 2016 and spent seven seasons with the Hoosiers, with the last three as associate head coach. He worked with Indiana’s guards, so he worked directly with Tyra Buss, Ali Patberg, Grace Berger, Chloe Moore-McNeil, and more. He was also an important recruiter for the Hoosiers — he led IU’s rapid charge to get Sara Scalia out of the transfer portal last offseason.
Box’s close relationship with Linda Sayavongchanh is a major reason why Indiana brought her in last year when Ashley Williams left. Box and Sayavongchanh worked together for one season, 2014-15, at Saint Louis, and developed a strong connection that they maintained even after they left the Billikens.
The RedHawks job became available late in the hiring cycle. According to The Athletic, DeUnna Hendrix resigned on April 26, “seven days after the university became aware of intimate text communications between her and a player.”
