Indiana women’s basketball was picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten preseason poll by both media and coaches.
This is the sixth consecutive year the Hoosiers have been picked to finish in the top half of the Big Ten. IU finished third last season, after winning its first title in 40 years in 2022-23.
Big Ten newcomer USC was picked to win the conference title this year in both polls. UCLA checked in behind the Trojans, followed by Ohio State, Maryland, and IU. The Big Ten released only the top five for each poll.
Trojans star sophomore JuJu Watkins was tabbed as preseason Big Ten Player of the Year, and the lone unanimous selection on both the coaches and media preseason All-Big Ten teams. UCLA junior Lauren Betts was a unanimous pick on the coaches team.
Indiana did not have any preseason All-Big Ten selections.
The Hoosiers finished 26-6 overall and 15-3 in the Big Ten last season, advancing to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the third time in four years. Highlighting the returners will be fifth-year guards Chloe Moore-McNeil and Sydney Parrish along with junior guard Yarden Garzon.
Four new faces also join the roster this season in freshmen Sydney Fenn and Faith Wiseman, along with a pair of transfers, Shay Ciezki and Karoline Striplin.
Head coach Teri Moren enters her 11th season at the helm of the program with six NCAA Tournament. She is the program’s all-time winningest coach with a 226-99 overall record at Indiana.
