Indiana women’s basketball clinched at least a share of its first Big Ten championship since 1983 on Sunday by beating Purdue at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
And now, the Hoosiers have secured the outright title without even taking the court. No. 7 Maryland demolished No. 6 Iowa, 96-68, on Tuesday in College Park. That gives No. 2 IU a two-game lead in the standings over both the Terps and Hawkeyes with just one game remaining.
Indiana wraps up the regular season on Sunday against the Hawkeyes at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. ESPN’s College GameDay is going to Iowa City ahead of the game, which now carries no meaning for the conference crown. But both teams will be fighting to continue adding to their NCAA Tournament resumes.
