Starting Lineups:
- Indiana starters: Aiden Sherrell, Samet Yigitoglu, Jaeden Mustaf, Darren Harris and Markus Burton.
First Half:
Markus Burton left the floor after taking a fall. The floor seemed slippery; Burton was holding his hand and thigh area. Ford Center is normally a hockey rink; maybe that is why Burton slipped.
Indiana didn’t score for the first four and a half minutes of the first half. Mustaf gets Indiana’s first bucket of the game. The Hoosiers are down 5-2 with 15:32 left in the first half.
Bryce Lindsay has continued to impress off the bench. Lindsay has 9 points on 3-for-5 shooting. Indiana leads 20-16 with 7:31 left in the first half.
Trevor Manhertz came in and hit a quick three-pointer. So far, across three exhibition appearances, we’ve seen Manhertz more than any other freshman.
Western Kentucky takes a 5-point lead, 28-23, with 4:54 left in the first half. The Hilltoppers have forced a couple of turnovers and capitalized.
Western Kentucky leads 28-27 with 3:38 left in 1H. Indiana’s extra passes have been effective in the paint. Yigitoglu was swarmed by two WKU defenders and found Sam Alexis wide open on the left block for a dunk. The Hoosiers have seized the momentum in the Ford Center.
Western Kentucky leads 37-35 at the break. Western Kentucky’s Teagan Moore hits a half-court shot to give the Hilltoppers the lead into the tunnel. The Hoosiers have started to figure out that Western Kentucky is looking to trap any of the three bigs (Yigitoglu, Sherrell, Alexis), the extra pass has been open. Jaeden Mustaf has impressed me so far today; with his frame at 6’5″, he can space out the floor when paired with the frontcourt.
First Half Stats

Second Half
Western Kentucky leads 44-35. Burton has been getting to the rim today, just hasn’t been able to finish. Burton is 1-for-9 from the field and hasn’t provided his typical scoring burst. Indiana has had costly turnovers from the bigs that have led to WKU buckets, a major reason they are losing in the second half. Within the first two minutes of the second half, Darian DeVries has already put Trevor Manhertz and Prince Alexander-Moody on the floor. It’s only an exhibition, but the Hoosiers look very flustered.
15:57 left, Western Kentucky is leading 44-38. In many ways, it feels like Indiana is leaning on its frontcourt to control the game and will lead the team to victory. The Hoosiers lead the rebounding battle 28-26; little separates the two teams this afternoon.
Western Kentucky leads 56-48 with 11:15 left to play. The Hilltoppers have been the aggressors in the second half. Western Kentucky has been effective when driving downhill, either getting to the free-throw line or finding an open shot on the perimeter. Prince Alexander-Moody continues to stand out as a freshman who should play this year. Alexander-Moody entered the game, immediately hit a three-pointer, and has been a thorn in everyone’s side defensively.
Western Kentucky leads 63-60 with 5:57 left in the second half. It hasn’t been Markus Burton’s day, shooting 1-for-11 from the field; DeVries turns to Lindsay to make up the difference. The Hoosiers are within striking distance for the first time in the second half. Note: All three freshmen are currently in the game for Indiana.
Tied up at 63! Prince Alexander-Moody hits his second three-pointer of the game, and Indiana has woken up the crowd in Evansville.
Indiana leads 70-68 with 2:44 left to play. It’s the first Indiana lead since the very end of the first half.
Bryce Lindsay extends the lead to 4. The Hoosiers lead 72-68. Bryce Lindsay went downhill with speed and finished with a nice right-handed layup. Western Kentucky is forced to call a timeout to regroup.
Indiana leads 75-72 with under a minute left. All three freshmen, Karvala, Alexander-Moody, and Manhertz, have been massive for Indiana down the stretch.
Indiana Wins 79-74. The Hoosiers sweep their three-game exhibition slate and gear up to start the regular season Nov. 2 against Eastern Illinois.
