After eight seasons leading the strength and conditioning program for IU basketball, Clif Marshall is moving on.
Marshall is expected to be replaced by Ryan Horn, who has been with new IU coach Darian DeVries at both West Virginia and Drake.
Marshall posted the following message on his social media accounts:
“My family and I will miss being a part of one of the greatest basketball programs in the country,” Marshall said. “We lived it and we loved it. To the players, coaches, administration, support staff, student managers, fans, and media members whom I have met along the way, I am grateful for each one of you. I have learned in my 25 years as a coach that the results are temporary, but the relationships are eternal. I thank God for the moments that became memories at Indiana University. I don’t know what my future holds, but I know who holds my future.”
Horn is a 20-year veteran in the field. He began working with DeVries in 2022. He previously worked with men’s basketball programs at West Virginia, Drake, Wichita State, Wake Forest, Tulsa and VCU.
Horn played college football at East Stroudsburg for one season and at James Madison for two seasons before injuries ended his playing career. He earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Shepherd in 2007 before earning his master’s degree at VCU in 2008.
Horn holds the dual titles of Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) and Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association. The MSCC distinction, which he completed in 2021, is considered the industry’s highest honor and represents a balance of professionalism, knowledge, experience, expertise and longevity in the field.
