Indiana forward Malik Reneau suffered a lower body injury very early in the first half against Rutgers on Thursday evening in Bloomington.
He has been ruled out of the game.
Reneau got a dunk off the opening tip, but just 29 seconds into the game he fell to the court along the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall north baseline after apparently banging his knee while playing defense.
The 6-foot-9 junior required attention from the training staff, but was helped to his feet, walked on his own, and appeared to leave the court without a significant limp.
Indiana has only described his injury as a “lower body injury.”
Reneau returned to the IU bench after halftime with an ice pack under his right knee. He was still walking without a noticeable limp after halftime. Reneau appeared to give the thumbs up gesture to several people after he emerged from the tunnel.
Coming into the game, Reneau was averaging 15 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
