Indiana’s new roster is coming together with several key additions via the transfer portal over the last two weeks.
But the Hoosiers still need some length and rim protection.
7-foot developmental prospect Emeka Opurum of Butler Community College in Kansas won’t be part of the mix.
Opurum announced on Wednesday he has committed to Auburn after a visit there this week. IU’s early involvement with Opurum emerged over the weekend.
Indiana currently has 6-foot-10 forward Reed Bailey on the roster for next season. He could play a small-ball stretch-five role to give IU a modern look at center.
But Bailey is currently the only player projected to be on the team who stands above 6-foot-7. So there’s work to be done.
Look for the Hoosiers to continue to explore big man options in the days to come.
Here are four players with size who have been reported to be in contact with IU. We’ll continue to monitor and report on the prospects as Darian DeVries and team build out the roster:
- Ante Brzovic (Charleston), 6-10 PF/C, 18.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 32.2 3P% (requires eligibility waiver)
- Eddie Lampkin (Syracuse), 6-11 C, 11.5 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 59.6 FG% (requires eligibility waiver)
- Duke Brennan (Grand Canyon), 6-10 C/PF, 10.2 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 64.6 FG%
- Peyton Marshall (Missouri), 7-0 C, 1 ppg, 1.1 rpg
