Isaiah Jones, a three-star linebacker from London, Ohio in the Class of 2022, announced on his Twitter account Sunday that he has committed to Indiana.
“I want to thank all my teammates for making me the best version of myself,” Jones said on the post. “I want to thank the London Athletic Department and Staff for helping me pursue my dream on and off the field. With that being said, I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Indiana University!”
The 6-foot-2 and 215 pound Jones took an official visit to IU over the weekend.
Jones is the No. 1000 player in the Class of 2022, the No. 99 linebacker in the class and the No. 35 rated player in the class from Ohio, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings. He also had offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Minnesota and Wake Forest as well as Akron, Ball State and Bowling Green.
Last fall Jones was named second Team All-Ohio after recording 63 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. He is the son of former star Ohio State tight end D.J Jones. D.J. played for the Buckeyes from 1992 to 1996.
Jones is the fifth overall commit in Indiana’s 2022 class. All five commits to this point play on the defensive side of the ball, and Jones is the third linebacker to commit in the class. Jones joins cornerback Trevell Mullen, who also committed Sunday, as well as linebacker Dasan McCullough, defensive lineman Richard Thomas and linebacker Kaiden Turner.
