A familiar name to the Bloomington area will be joining the IU basketball team for the 2019-20 season.
Jon Blau of the Bloomington Herald-Times reported via Twitter that former Edgewood High School star Cooper Bybee will be a walk-on at IU.
In unexpected news, while talking to J.B. Neill, I was told one of his former players, Cooper Bybee, who had been at Olney Central, will be walking on at IU. The kid who did this a little over two years ago.https://t.co/wlog48lmZi

The 6-foot-1, 190 pound guard played the last two seasons at Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois.
Bybee averaged 7.1 points per game as a sophomore at Olney, playing 13.8 minutes per contest. He shot 46% from the field overall and 41.9% from long range.
Hailing from neighboring Ellettsville, Bybee was the fifth ever player at Edgewood to surpass the 1,000 point mark. Six of his more memorable points came in the same game:

Bybee would become the second known walk-on for next year’s team along with Zionsville’s Nate Childress.
It is not clear as of this writing what Bybee’s precise walk-on status is (e.g. preferred walk-on or otherwise), but we are able to confirm through a source that he will be part of the team.
