Since going undrafted out of IU following the 2019 season, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has proven his doubters wrong. The latest sign of that came on Tuesday.
Westbrook-Ikhine had his best NFL season in 2024, and the rewards have followed. The former IU wideout has agreed with the Miami Dolphins on a two-year, $6.5 million deal with $3.2 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports.
It will be a homecoming of sorts for Westbrook-Ikhine, who hails from Lake Mary, Fla.
In Miami, Westbrook should compete for the third wide receiver role behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Westbrook-Ikhine played all of his first five seasons with Tennessee. His fifth year in the NFL in 2024 was his best, with 32 catches for 497 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns. He played in all 17 games with nine starts. Westbrook-Ikhine was tied for ninth in the NFL in touchdown receptions. He also played 121 special teams snaps.
The former IU star has had four straight years of at least 25 catches and 370 yards. For his five year career he has 126 catches, 1,773 yards, and 19 touchdowns. He has the fifth-most receiving yards, and third-most receiving TDs of any former IU player in the NFL.
At IU, then known as Nick Westbrook, he finished his career with 144 receptions for 2,226 yards and 16 touchdowns. Upon leaving the program he ranked sixth in catches, seventh in yardage and TDs, and tied for seventh in 100-yard receiving games (6) in the IU record book.
He became the seventh Hoosier to reach 125 receptions and 2,000 yards. The four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree appeared in a program-record 52 games (36 starts).
Over his first five seasons in the NFL, Westbrook-Ikhine eared approximately $5.6 million according to Spotrac.
