Trayce Jackson-Davis already has a four-year contract with two years guaranteed, and he’s expected to be on the Warriors 15-man roster when the NBA season starts in October.
But he could still benefit from getting some live experience this summer.
After missing multiple NBA Summer League games, the expectation is Jackson-Davis will make his debut this week.
The Golden State rookie forward told the San Francisco Chronicle’s C.J. Holmes he is aiming to make his Las Vegas Summer League debut on Wednesday or Thursday. They play Dallas on Wednesday (5:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV) and Houston on Thursday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN), with additional games to be determined.
After being selected in the second round by the Warriors, the IU All-American has not played this summer because of a right hamstring injury.
Jackson-Davis fell later in the 2023 NBA Draft than expected last month. He was chosen 57th overall by Golden State. But Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy said soon after the draft Jackson-Davis will be part of the team’s 15-man roster.
Last week it was announced Jackson-Davis had signed a 4-year deal with the Warriors, with two years guaranteed.
The Greenwood, Ind. product finished his IU career as the program leader in rebounds (1,143) and blocks (270), and he’s third all-time with 2,258 points. Jackson-Davis is third at IU in career double-doubles (50), and one of five players in Big Ten Basketball history to record 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
He averaged 20.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per game during his consensus first team All-American senior season in 2022-23, while shooting 58.1 percent from the field.
