Discouraging news as it relates to a fall college football season continues to break on Saturday.
David Jesse of the Detroit Free Press appears to have been the first to report through multiple sources that Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren prefers to attempt to play the football season in the spring.
Jessse’s report also indicates that a meeting by Big Ten university presidents on Saturday includes discussion of the fate of fall sports including football.
The news follows the decision by the Mid-American Conference to move its football season to the spring. The MAC is the first FBS conference to make that move.
Indiana opened fall camp on Thursday and practiced each of the last three days. IU practiced in pads on Saturday prior to an edict by the Big Ten that prohibited practicing in full pads until further notice.
The Hoosiers are scheduled to open the 2020 season on Sept. 4 at Wisconsin.
