Former Indiana guard Eric Gordon is set for another stop in his well-traveled NBA career.
Per reports, Gordon is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers on a one-year contract for the veteran minimum. The North Central product is entering his 17th year in the NBA, and this will be the fifth franchise he’s played for. He’ll join forces with star center Joel Embiid and play for head coach Nick Nurse for a Sixers team with high hopes.
Gordon scored a career-low 11 points per game last year in his lone season with the Phoenix Suns. He also averaged two assists, one steal, and 1.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 37.8 percent from 3-point range. The guard, through his entire NBA career, has recorded 15.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. He’s shot 37.1 percent from 3-point range and 43 percent from the field.
The guard played at IU in 2007-08 under Kelvin Sampson and Dan Dakich and enjoyed a stellar season. Gordon averaged 20.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 33.7 percent from 3-point range. He led the Big Ten in scoring and earned first-team all-conference honors.
Gordon was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the seventh overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and spent his first three years in the league with the team. Los Angeles traded him to the New Orleans Hornets in December 2011, and he spent five years with that franchise as they eventually became the Pelicans. The Indianapolis native signed with Houston in 2016 and won 6th Man of the Year in his first of seven seasons with the Rockets. They traded him back to the Clippers in February 2023, and then he signed with Phoenix last offseason.
