Twice Julian Lewis has reportedly scheduled visits to Indiana over the last month.
And twice now it appears those visits won’t happen.
The class of 2025 quarterback from Georgia had a visit scheduled for Indiana’s 56-7 win over Nebraska a few weeks ago but cancelled.
Multiple national outlets reported he was coming for this weekend’s game against Michigan, but now that has apparently been cancelled as well.
Rivals’ Adam Gorney appears to have been the first to say this week Lewis would not be visiting Bloomington on Saturday despite reports to the contrary. Now On3’s Steve Wiltfong has updated his own reporting after Lewis once again has had a chance of heart.
At this point it appears Lewis will likely end up at either USC, where he has been verbally committed for more than a year, or Colorado, a place he did visit recently.
Led by Curt Cignetti, the Indiana coaching staff has had four straight quarterbacks earn conference player of the year honors going back to their time at James Madison. Current IU quarterback Kurtis Rourke has a chance to be the fifth, while facing stiff competition from Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and others.
Indiana does not appear to be recruiting any other quarterbacks in the 2025 class. Slated to return next season are Tayven Jackson, who will be a redshirt junior in 2025, and Tyler Cherry and Alberto Mendoza, who will both be redshirt freshmen.
Cignetti will likely look for a transfer during the offseason to compete for the starting job in 2025. And after the success Rourke has had this season, there should be plenty of interest from veteran quarterbacks across the college football landscape.
