IU fans will get their first look at the Curt Cignetti era in just under a week.
The Indiana football program will host the IU Football Spring Game on Thursday, April 18 at Memorial Stadium.
Kickoff for the event is slated for 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network with Matt Schumacker (pbp), Rhett Lewis (analyst) and Pat Boylan (sideline) calling the game for the network.
The team will begin warm-ups at 7:30 p.m.
The game will mark the conclusion of Indiana’s spring practice sessions. IU started spring practice on March 21. The spring game will mark IU’s third scrimmage under first-year head coach Cignetti, and their 13th overall practice.
This will be the first traditional spring game in several years for Indiana.
Last April the program held an open practice in front of fans that included a meet-and-greet session. For the three years prior to that IU did not have anything open to the public in the spring.
Admission is free. Parking for the event will be free and available on a first come first serve basis in Lot 2, Lot 4 and Lot 12.
The format for the game features a system Cignetti used at James Madison.
The roster will be split between the defense and the offense, with scoring formatted as follows:
- Touchdown – 6 points
- Extra Point – 1 point
- Field Goal – 3 points
- Turnover Gained – 4 points
- Defensive Stop – 3 points
- Safety – 2 points
Cignetti’s Hoosiers open the 2024 season on Aug. 31 when they host FIU.
