Indiana may get a chance on Friday to avenge one of its two losses this season. Another chance for revenge will have to wait until Sunday if the Hoosiers can get back to the Big Ten championship game.
The conference released the 2023 women’s basketball tournament bracket on Sunday evening.
As the No. 1 overall seed, IU earned a double-bye and will face the winner of a Thursday tilt between No. 9 Michigan State and No. 8 Nebraska. IU lost to the Spartans in late December before defeating the Cornhuskers in a tight game in Bloomington on New Year’s Day. Both of those games were played without star guard Grace Berger.
The Hoosiers’ Friday game against either Michigan State or Nebraska tips at 12:30 p.m. ET and will air live on BTN.
If IU wins on Friday, their most likely Saturday semifinal opponents are No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Michigan. Indiana swept both teams this year.
If they can advance to the Sunday championship game, Indiana would likely face No. 2 Iowa or No. 3 Maryland. The Hoosiers split with Iowa including a loss on Sunday in Iowa City. The two teams met last year in the championship game, with the Hawkeyes coming out on top.
IU defeated Maryland in Bloomington in their lone meeting.
Indiana finished the regular season 26-2 overall, and 16-2 in league play.
