When Darian DeVries added Kenny Johnson to his staff, he gained immediate connections in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
And in just the few days since the news of Johnson’s hire broke, three prospects from the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) have been mentioned as Indiana targets.
Here’s some quick background on all three. We’ll have more coverage of these players if any of them develop into significant pursuits by Indiana.
TYRELL WARD
Ward is a transfer wing from LSU who was an Indiana recruiting target out of DeMatha H.S. in Washington D.C. Reports on Saturday indicated IU involvement.
The 6-foot-6 Ward missed the entire 2024-25 season due to mental health concerns.
Ward is a good shooter and defender. As a sophomore in 2023-24, Ward played in 31 games, starting 10. He averaged 9.1 points and 2.3 assists in 21.7 minutes per game. He was tied for the team lead in three-pointers with 52 (52-of-126, 41.3 percent).
Ward has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
BRYCE LINDSAY
Lindsay is a transfer guard from James Madison. Indiana was named Sunday by Jon Rothstein as one of seven schools Lindsay is considering.
The 6-foot-3 Baltimore, Md. product was the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, Sun Belt Sixth Man of the Year, and Third Team All-Sun Belt.
He averaged 13.4 points per game, the fifth-highest by a freshman in JMU program history. He added 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while producing impressive 45.5/40.8/85.4 shooting splits.
Lindsay has three years of eligibility remaining.
ACADEN LEWIS
One of the top players in the high school class of 2025, Lewis recently decommitted from Kentucky.
Indiana attempted to get involved with the 4-star point guard a year ago and appear to be pursuing Lewis once again based on a report by national 247Sports analyst Travis Branham.
The 6-foot-2 senior played at Sidwell Friends School in Maryland this year.
Lewis is ranked the No. 32 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 5 point guard.
All three players have been added to our offseason transfer portal activity and prospect tracker.
