THREE REASONS WHY IU WON
1. DEFENSIVE DOMINATION: Indiana held Purdue to just 67 yards, just one more yard than IU had points. The Boilers had just five first downs for the entire game and only rushed for just 13 yards. The Hoosiers had two interceptions and forced three fumble for a 5-0 turnover margin. As a team IU had nine tackles for loss. Linebacker Jailin Walker was dominant with four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, two pass break-ups and three quarterback hits.
2. OFFENSIVE DOMINATION: While Purdue couldn’t move the ball, IU couldn’t be stopped. The Hoosiers rolled up 582 total yards, and picked up 30 first downs. Quarterback Kurtis Rourke was 23-of-31 for 349 yards, with a program-record tying six touchdowns passes. Elijah Sarratt caught eight passes for 165 yards and two scores. IU completed five touchdown drives of more than seventy yards.
3. INDIANA FOCUSED AND PREPARED: With a 10-1 record compared to Purdue’s 1-10, Indiana could have taken the Boilermakers lightly. But the Hoosiers were all-business, and dismantled the Boilers in all phases in record-breaking fashion.
