Indiana will need a long, athletic, rim-protecting big man who can dominate the glass on Darian DeVries’ first roster.
But it won’t come in the form of former in-state high school phenom Flory Bidunga. He announced on Sunday a return to Kansas after a brief stint in the transfer portal. Multiple national outlets said Indiana was a potential landing spot for Bidunga, along with Auburn. That speculation grew when IU hired Drew Adams as an assistant coach. Adams’ family has a connection to Bidunga.
But in the end a return to Kansas was in order, and IU’s search for a true center continues.
Meanwhile, Tyrone Riley will also return, in his case to San Francisco, after a testing the portal waters. IU was reported as in contact with the freshman forward.
And on Monday, UCLA wing Sebastian Mack announced his transfer to Missouri. IU was also reported to be in contact with the Chicago product.
After seeing the roster drop to zero players, DeVries has things trending in the right direction with the additions of Davidson’s Reed Bailey and DePaul’s Conor Enright. But there’s still a lot of work to be done. As of Monday morning, Indiana has five players on its 2025-26 roster, including two — Luke Goode and Tucker DeVries — who require hardship waivers to obtain a fifth season of eligibility.
