After a massive second half of his senior season, Trayce Jackson-Davis is Indiana’s first AP first team All-American since Victor Oladipo.
Joining Jackson-Davis on the first team are Jalen Wilson (Kansas), Zach Edey (Purdue), Marcus Sasser (Houston), and Brandon Miller (Alabama).
Jackson-Davis averaged per game career highs in points (20.8), rebounds (10.9), assists (4.1), blocks (2.7) and steals (.9) while shooting 57.8 percent from the field.
Over his last 16 games of the 2022-23 season, Jackson-Davis averaged 23.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.8 blocks and 1.1 steals per contest.
He also recorded just the third triple-double in IU basketball history in December against Nebraska. He improved considerably as a passer this season. His previous career high in assists was 1.9 per game a year ago. 123 of his 265 career assists came this season.
Jackson-Davis became Indiana’s all-time leader in blocks (260) and rebounds (1,124) during his senior season, and he is currently third all-time in points (2,211).
The second team consists of Jaime Jaquez Jr. (UCLA), Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky), Drew Timme (Gonzaga), Azuolas Tubelis (Arizona) and Jalen Pickett (Penn State).
Markquis Nowell and Keyontae Johnson, both of Kansas State, are joined by Tyler Kolek (Marquette), Kris Murray (Iowa) and Armando Bacot (North Carolina) on the third team.
National scoring leader Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy and son of former IU basketball coach Mike Davis was the leading vote-getter among players who didn’t make the three All-America teams. He averaged 28.2 points and fell three points short of tying “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s all-time NCAA career scoring record.
