Trent Howland had a change of heart.
After announcing a transfer to Minnesota last week, Howland has reversed course and will remain with Indiana he posted to his social media accounts on Sunday.
With 354 yards on 75 carries, Howland was Indiana’s leading rusher in 2023. He took over as IU’s primary back over the last three weeks and gained 186 yards.
Howland posted on social media about his decision.
“My decision to continue my career as a Hoosier had nothing to do with NIL,” Howland said. “There were personal issues that led to my commitment to Minnesota that will not be discussed on social media. I am doing what I feel most comfortable with.”
As a redshirt freshman in 2022 Howland appeared in nine games. He rushed two times for 12 yards in win over Idaho.
As a freshman in 2021 he played in three games and rushed for 20 yards.
The 6-foot-3 and 240 pound Joliet, Ill. product has two years of eligibility remaining.
