If you’re unsure who to root for in Super Bowl LIX, perhaps two Hoosiers on one of the teams will make the difference.
The Kansas City Chiefs feature former IU football players: Cam Jones at linebacker and Peyton Hendershot at tight end.
You’ll see both on the field for special teams, and Hendershot occasionally on offense.
Wearing No. 44 for the Chiefs, Jones played in both of their playoff games thus far. He saw action on 32 special teams snaps and recorded one tackle.
For the second year in a row, Jones played in 17 games with one start for the Chiefs during the regular season. He recorded 19 tackles with a QB hit in 2024. He posted 12 tackles in a week 17 game vs. Denver. Jones has played in 34 career games with two starts in two seasons with the Chiefs.
Jones will be competing for a second straight Super Bowl ring during the NFL Playoffs. A year ago he became the 19th former IU player to win a Super Bowl ring.
Wearing No. 88 for the Chiefs, Hendershot is in the playoffs for the third straight year. He played 18 offensive snaps and 32 on special teams for Kansas City in the divisional and conference championship rounds.
Hendershot appeared in seven games with a start for the Chiefs after being traded from Dallas before the season. He caught five passes for 51 yards in his third NFL season. He’s up to 20 total NFL catches. Hendershot is in the NFL Playoffs with a chance to win the Super Bowl.
Featuring the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, Super Bowl LIX will be played on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. ET.
The Super Bowl will be broadcast on Fox.
Prior to this year’s game, 29 Hoosiers have made 37 Super Bowl appearances. Of the 58 Super Bowls, 30 have featured an Indiana Hoosier. That total includes 13 of the last 15 games with an IU alum on a Super Bowl roster (practice squad or active).
