The transfer portal opened back up this month, and a new wave of IU football defections has continued into this week.
Based on our offseason roster tracker, IU football has seen 40 players — nearly half of all those on scholarship — leave the program with remaining eligibility since the end of the 2023 season.
Of course the change at the top has played in role in the overhaul as new head coach Curt Cignetti looks to put his stamp on the program.
Running back David Holloman and offensive lineman Bubba Jeffries are the most recent players to enter the portal.
Known for his speed, Holloman had a limited role in three years at Indiana.
He played in 10 games in 2023. He rushed six times for 18 yards, and also returned three kickoffs for 41 yards.
Holloman did not see the field at all in 2022. His 2021 season got off to an inauspicious start when he emerged from the locker room at Iowa with “Indiana” misspelled on his jersey. Holloman carried 11 times for 34 yards during that freshman campaign.
Holloman’s departure means all of Indiana’s running backs on the 2024 roster are new to the team this season.
Jeffries did not see any game action and redshirted his initial collegiate season in 2023. He missed the season due to injury.
