As they build a new football stadium, Northwestern has updated plans to host games for the 2024 season.
Northwestern’s football team will play a majority of its games this season at a temporary setup at the Lanny and Sharon Martin athletics facility near Lake Michigan on the University’s Evanston campus.
That includes Indiana’s Oct. 5 game at Northwestern.
The location includes views of the lake, North Campus and downtown Chicago.
The Wildcats will also play two home games at Wrigley Field, but those come towards the tail-end of the season after the Chicago Cubs’ baseball season will have ended.
Earlier reports suggested IU might play the game at the SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill., a soccer-specific stadium in the Chicago suburbs.
The alternate location is necessary as Northwestern has commenced the process of building a new football stadium. Demolition of the old Ryan Field on the campus has largely been completed.
Construction of the new $800 million stadium of the same name will be completed at the same site for the 2026 college football season.
The game will be Indiana and new head coach Curt Cignetti’s second road trip of the 2024 campaign. The Hoosiers will travel to UCLA to face the Bruins in the Rose Bowl on Sept. 14.
