It has been an interesting couple of weeks on the Yogi Ferrell NBA news front.
First Dallas had rescinded their $2.9 million qualifying offer to Ferrell two weeks ago, making him an unrestricted free agent. That announcement came with wide speculation that the qualifying offer was “a placeholder” as the team worked to re-sign Ferrell.
Yesterday came rumors that Ferrell had moved forward and re-signed with Dallas. Here’s the latest on Friday:
Friday Afternoon Update:
The latest news appears to be that Ferrell has now signed with Sacramento:
Yogi Ferrell’s new Kings contract will be for two years and $6.2M, league sources said. https://t.co/5NcnC5o786

Earlier Report:
A new twist in the story has apparently unfolded today, as there have been reports that Ferrell will in fact enter free agency:
Sources: Guard Yogi Ferrell has changed course on Dallas Mavericks deal in order to reenter free agency. “We felt uncomfortable and will weigh our options,” agent Cervando Tejeda said.

Charania was one of the same reporters that put out the sourced report that Ferrell had re-signed yesterday, and included a detail that made it seem convincing, indicating that Ferrell had been promised the backup shooting guard position.
Now? We think we will wait to hear from Ferrell himself (or his agent or Dallas) before we believe any further reports.
While we wait, check out Ferrell’s 2017-18 NBA season in review here.
