Indiana appears to be trending towards capitalizing on a long-term relationship with Atlanta based point guard Myles Rice.
The Washington State transfer was scheduled to visit Auburn this weekend but that has been canceled according to a report by On3 national analyst Jamie Shaw.
In his report, Shaw said “a source this afternoon told me that Rice has canceled his visit to Auburn. The same source said they now suspect Rice to ultimately choose Indiana.”
Shaw has placed a prediction that Rice will transfer to IU.
247Sports national analyst Travis Branham also made a prediction on Thursday that Indiana will land the freshman guard.
There has been some speculation Rice will visit Indiana very soon, perhaps this weekend, but that seems like more of a formality at this point.
When he was in high school, Rice played for IU assistant coach Yasir Rosemond during the summer when both were in Atlanta. Both are from the Atlanta area.
The 6-foot-3 and 180-pound Rice rewrote the school freshman record book at WSU, breaking the single-game scoring, single-season scoring, single-season steals, single-season assists, single-season field goals, and single-season free throw percentage records. He averaged 14.8 points per game and led the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 16 years.
Rice added 3.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. His shooting splits were 43.9 percent overall including 27.5 percent from three, and 81.1 percent from the stripe.
