Watch below as Ellie Mallory, wife of the late Bill Mallory, greeted the IU football team on Thursday and led them in the singing of the fight song.
Bill Mallory was the head coach at Indiana from 1984 to 1996, and he is the all-time winningest coach in program history. Under his direction, the Hoosiers had some of their more memorable seasons. He led IU to 6 bowl games, including wins in the 1988 Liberty Bowl and the 1991 Copper Bowl.
The 1987 season saw the Hoosiers defeat both Michigan and Ohio State, as IU won eight games on the season. In 1988 Indiana defeated the Buckeyes for the second consecutive season and once again achieved eight wins.
From 1987 to 1994, Indiana compiled a 54-36-3 record, marking one of the best stretches in program history.
Bill Mallory passed in 2018.
