Former IU football linebacker Matt Mayberry has become a best-selling author and motivational speaker.
He recently spoke to the entire IU football team. You can watch a portion of that below.
Mayberry received the 2009 Howard Brown Award, given to the player who exemplifies the qualities of former IU assistant coach Howard Brown. He started the final 24 games of his career at middle linebacker and closed out his time in Bloomington with nine double-digit tackle games and at least 10 stops in eight of his final 11 conference contests. Mayberry ended his career with 251 tackles, 139 solo, 10.5 sacks (73 yards), 22.5 tackles for loss (99 yards), three interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
As a senior in 2009, Mayberry received honorable mention All-Big Ten from the league’s coaches and media, and also was named a third team All-Big Ten selection by Phil Steele’s magazine. Mayberry was with the Chicago Bears during the 2010 preseason.
