Two of Indiana’s top returning defenders met with the media on Thursday morning.
Sixth year husky Marcelino Ball missed the 2020 season with a torn ACL. A four-year starter, Ball suffered a torn ACL during fall camp prior to what was to be his redshirt senior season. He started three games in 2017 prior to a season ending injury after being named to the ESPN and BTN All-Freshman team in 2016. The 6-foot and 220 pound Ball totaled 47 tackles, including 29 solo, two sacks, and three for loss in 2019. He registered a team-high six quarterback hurries and two pass breakups. Ball finished 2019 fourth on the team in stops and solo tackles.
Junior linebacker Cam Jones was recognized by the coaches and media as Big Ten honorable mention in 2020. Jones has 30 tackles, 20 solo, two sacks, three TFLs, a team-high four QBHs and one pass breakup in seven starts. He made his first career start in the 2020 opener and win over No. 8 Penn State, where he made a career-best seven tackles, one for loss, and matched a career-high with six solos.
