New IU football punter James Evans met with the media recently to discuss his arrival in the United States and early days in the program.
Evans enrolled in 2021 spring classes. He had never played football or visited the United States prior to his arrival. He was scheduled to make a trip to the U.S. in July and visit IU in December but did not due to COVID-19.
Evans trained at Prokick Australia, a training ground for punters and kickers, and he becomes the second-straight Indiana punter to arrive in Bloomington via Prokick following Haydon Whitehead.
Evans played rugby and squash in high school. He is expected to be the starter from day one.
