Indiana looks like a lock to enter the Top-25 if they can move to 5-0 with a win over Maryland.
The Hoosiers received 67 votes in the new Coaches Poll published Sunday following their 52-14 week four win over Charlotte. The update places them effectively at No. 27 according to the coaches.
Indiana received the seventh most votes in the Coaches Poll among Big Ten teams. Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Michigan, USC, and Illinois are all currently ranked.
IU is in the same spot in the AP Top-25, released later in the day. There they received 63 votes and are No. 27 as well.
The Hoosiers have not been ranked in either poll since 2021.
According to ESPN Football Power Index, Indiana is now the No. 15 team in the country. That comes after FPI slotted the Hoosiers in at No. 77 before the season. FPI gives IU a 66.9% chance to beat Maryland on Saturday, a 99.7% chance to reach six wins, and a 27.4% chance to make the College Football Playoff.
In ESPN’s SP+ rankings, Indiana has moved up to No. 30. That model projected IU to be the No. 81 team in the preseason.
Indiana (4-0) faces Maryland (3-1) Saturday at Noon ET in Bloomington.
