Indiana starting center Kel’el Ware is out vs. Wisconsin.
The 7-foot Ware emerged from the Indiana bus at the Kohl Center wearing a walking boot, according to Seth Tow of The Daily Hoosier, who is in Madison. Ware was not out with the rest of the team during the first round of pregame warmups.
He finally emerged from the locker room still wearing the boot. Ware has a sprained right ankle according to coach Mike Woodson.
Ware was listed as questionable by Indiana on the team’s pregame availability report. He did not suffer an obvious injury during IU’s most recent game against Purdue.
In his first season with Indiana, the Oregon transfer is averaging 14.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. IU will start Payton Sparks in Ware’s spot.
Reserve guard Anthony Leal will be out for the second straight game.
Wisconsin’s injury report did not list anyone as questionable or out.
Indiana and Wisconsin tip at 8:30 p.m. ET Friday evening on FS1.
